Very deep amber coloured brew with no head left behind. Aromas of tangerine and melon along with notes of lemon zest and a pineapple suggestion.
Thick mouthfeel that's quite velvety, big body with a medium long piney finish. Melon is by far the strongest flavour in this big beer, there is the taste of alcohol from the 7.5% it also provide a little warmth. I want to say it's quite apricot-y too but really it's the nature of El Dorado giving that rich but rounded stone fruit taste. Citra gives it a sharpness and this brew has bitter pine finish. I'm unfamiliar with the hop Belma so I don't know if it contributes to the pine or citrus or juice.
(Love the can design as a X files fan.)
There's a fair amount of sweetness like candied fruits so along with the citrus, stone fruit and pine there is some overall complexity. It's definitely a typical American style, proper craft DIPA. Not a gulpable brew, a DIPA sipper for sure. Pretty nice though, as we know, El Dorado is lovely.
