Hazy Rye DIPA sounds interesting although the ABV doesn't exactly reach the limit of a DIPA. But anyway. The pour colors cloudy, deep orange with a faint red hue. Like carrot juice basically. Carbonation is obedient and a restrained off-white head covers the surface for a few seconds before a mere gossamer ring is the only thing to waft there. Sweet canned mandarin and sweet-leaning rye malt constitute the first set of the scent. The second wave is composed of faint auxiliary elements which include biscuit, apricot and caramel. Very overripe to my nose. The taste is somewhat odd: strong rye malt, canned industrial mandarin, overripe apricot, resin and pine needles. And alcohol. No one can miss it. Even to the level it's disturbing. The body is light-medium. The end slide is tangy with alcohol creating unexpected bumps. Basically the same flavors as upfront. Definitely no improvement here. The aftertaste'll be alright, it'll move on slowly and find another place; tomorrow's started for the lonely, the brewing dead! The mouthfeel is strong, tangy, boozy, a bit sharp, crisp and slightly tart. Overripe for sure. Unpleasant as if overdue. (Having checked the dates: the brewery is veeeery optimistic as it gives the bb up to 2025.) 😅
