My favourite underdog brewery, I've had a couple of their beers and was pleasantly surprised by both of them. Interesting name on this one, but more seriously interesting is that it's a DDH with Nelson Sauvin, the gooseberry hype bomb hop that can really make a beer jump. Backed by Mosaic and Galaxy to prevent an overload of gooseberry and white grape. Mostly hazy but partly transparent exposing a constant fizz bubbling away, which leads to some head retention. Very hoppy on the nose, no half measure pale here I'd say and Nelson is immediately noticeable. White grape, gooseberry and pineapple aromas. Yep, I can confirm Nelson Sauvin is indeed the lead hop, vastly over shadowing the others and I say this because with the aforementioned fruits there is also the savoury element that you get with single hop Nelson brews. It's in the finish, it's clean, fast and bready. Luckily though the white grape and gooseberry aren't overwhelming, in fact the flavour overall is fairly subdued compared to a big IPA, instead this is very much a gulpable pale, and a refreshing one at that. It's clean, hoppy and easy drinking. A good pale ale. And funnily enough, it would go well with a hot paradise beach and a cheese burger!
