Done some outdoor work = clearing part of the compound that has been abandoned for 10–15 years. Not my favorite type of work... Now a beer. A homebrew. This Small Beer was made of the second runnings of our previous Sahti, the ones that I had to waste because of contamination. The beer should be ok since the wort boiled for an hour unlike that of the Sahtis. The flavoring is ground ivy. It's an interesting herb. It was actually used in a similar way to hop before the hop had arrived in Finland. The beer colors cloudy, medium-brown. Carbonation is still rather impotent since it hasn't probably developed long enough in the bottle. But I'm impatient. No minus points for that. 😇 A subdued beige head emerges on the top and dies soon away. The scent is interesting! INTERESTING!!! Exactly what ground ivy smells like: a combination of ginger and eucalyptus. That cocktail is so intensive that it overpowers pretty much everything else. Malt could be detectable but not this time. The tongue receives the same medley of ginger and eucalyptus. Really copious. And innovative. Why not also strange but in a good way, at least in my opinion. The maltbase is recognizable but remains in the background. Ha, not bad! The body is skinny. It could be bigger although this clocks merely 3.8 %. The finish is hefty gingery with eucalyptus following behind. The mouthfeel is watery, flat, herbal, spiced and Oriental. The whole package is somewhat odd but innovative as well as exceptionally refreshing. This would certainly be highly divisive. I like especially the flavor profile: it absolutely tastes like ground ivy. Another story is whether ground ivy makes s good amendment in a beer. Not necessarily. Anyway, I get what I was looking for. I'm sure that these 12 bottles will work nicely in sauna.
