I did not care for this beer, the first disappointment from Boulevard Brewing. The maple detracts from the stout flavors rather than complimenting it. Additionally, I found the 12.5% ABV unpleasantly strong. This one is not for me.

Duo beer that Ryan picked out. I love these Boulevard limited release beers. From the bottle it seemed very heavy and totally dark brown. Short head, chocolate brown in color. Aroma is a boozy Bourbon barrel and Maple. Exactly what you would expect. Texture is heavy, coats the inside of your mouth with flavor but it's still not syrupy. Soft and creamy. Flavor starts with the bourbon then quickly adds abundantly sweet Maple. As it goes into the finish a dark stone fruit develops. Can't exactly name it. Could be a caramelized date or maybe dried candied fig. Adds a good background trait. From the first ship you could tell this is an excellent beer. Boulevard has never given me the impression of artificial flavoring. I'll add that the 12 1/2% is smooth and leaves no burn or warming in the throat. I hope to have this one again someday.
