The night crawls in, and the time has come to take a walk on the dark side. 🌜🌒 The beer is exactly what I expect it to look like: opaque, jet black. Oil. Carbonation has been held in a barrel for a while and is, hence, tame. A cute tan circle remains on the surface to remind me of the carbondioxide. Mmmm... rum barrel. Beautiful rum barrel. Dark rum with loads of fermented sugarcane hovers in the air. Dark chocolate ganache, cacao nibs, coconut, vanilla can't be ignored here. A tiny injection of molasses perhaps, as well. Dark rum, soaked barrel notes, sugarcane, dark chocolate, cacao nibs, coconut cream, vanilla. The taste profile delivers what the fragrance suggests. Exactly and precisely. Lovely dessert anyway. 🖤🖤 The body is robust. Sweetness intensifies such a sensation. But full it is surely. The finish is like liquid chocolate mudcake seasoned with a generous dark rum barrel apex. Coconut hangs around stubbornly. Diabetes in sight next door. The mouthfeel is full, velvety, barrel aged, sticky, a tad viscous. Desserty big time. Mouthcoating stuff. Warming but not as much as I imagined. Looks oily but doesn't actually feel like such. Probably due to the sweetness. Simply seductive.
