Hyvää joulua kaikille Pint:lle.🎅🏼🎁🎄 Makeahkoa banaania sekä hivenen hiivaa sekä mauste katajaa löytyy tuoksusta. Makeaa banaania ja ruis-mallas maistuu voimakkaasti heti alkuun. Sanoisin et rukii ja katajan maku rupeaa maustuu yhdessä makeahkon banaanin kanssa suullisen edetessä. Mukavan makea, onneksi makeus aste ei mene yhtään liikaa muuten ei maistuisi hyvälle. Ruis-mallas antaa myös mukavaa makua. Miinuksena on että hivenen liian ohutta on. Muuten makuna nautiskeluun sopivaa.

A local commercial Sahti. I tasted this last Christmas and wasn't impressed at all. Let me see how the 2023 version performs. Murky, deep dark brown Sahti with almost no carbonation at all fills the pint. A series of sand-hued big bubbles floats shortly on the top, in order to just die away. Rye is powerful to the nose. I especially spot rye porridge and rye flour. Juniper bough and berry are also generous in athe scent. Last year I found the fragrance slightly tangy, I wouldn't call it "tangy" now, but it certainly has character like rye-dominant Sahtis often do. The tongue gets impressive rye malt, rye porridge and a bit of rye flour. Definitely not short of rye. Fermented banana, banana peel, copious juniper twig and berry, and a bitter caramelly touch seal the deal. And again, I can identify faint lingonberry among the gustatory components. All in all, the palate is relatively soft and sweet despite the strong characterful rye punch. I don't get any sharpness unlike last year. The body is medium-full. This variable is clearly a big improvement from 2022. The finish offers sweet rye, banana peel, fermented banana and less juniper pieces than upfront. A face on the aftertaste with a fire in its heart; a man under cover but you tore him apart; maybe next year I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone special. The mouthfeel is somewhat mellow, soft, smooth, moderately sticky, intense and characterful. Significant improvement from 2022 to 2023. 👍🏻🍻

Joulu meni, sahti jäi. Nyt menee myös sahti. Suoraan panimolta ostettuna, vähän myöhässä toki maistoon. Rukiinen, makea ja melko hiivainen. Banaanisuutta, maltaisuutta ja pientä happamuutta. Maistuuhan tämä, sahti itselleni tosin aika vieras laji.

More sahti is better than less sahti. Therefore, a second sahti for review. This is very local. This sahti colors cloudy, deep dark brown. No carbonation, at least when opening the crown cap, I hear no pop or fizz. Carbonation is not a characteristic in sahtis but often there's marginal carbonation because of the bottle of growler conditioning. Anyway, a gossamer lace ring circles on the surface. Rye porridge is the first parameter that I spot in the air. Banana offers its peel rather than flesh, it's slightly tangy. Very one-dimensional. The taste gives medium-sweet rye malt and a small crack of cookie. Nevertheless, what is dominant here is a note of some berry, like blackberry and lingonberry combined. Somewhat sour. That note is now disturbing and reduces my rating. Moreover, juniper bough brings in additional sharpness to the taste profile. Not exactly a winner. The body is light. At 8 %, it's a bit inadequate. The finish floats the juniper plus sour berry plus rye medley further onward. Last Christmas, the finish gave you its heart, but the very next day you gave it away, this year, to save it from tears, it gives it to someone special. The mouthfeel is light, somewhat tart, moderately sharp and lip-glueing. I can manage this sahti but it's not exactly a success. Seems to be my 150th sahti. 😅
