PURBERRY I Blueberry Cardamom Sour I 5% Purberry was inspired by two food related things that make us think of Finland every time - blueberry juice and cardamom. They might not come as something special to Finns. But from the perspective of a foreigner, it’s a whole different story. Spending summer in the forest picking blueberries, having blueberry pie every day for like a month and slowly but surely filling your freezer to the brim with the leftover kilos - sure, that sounds exactly like our childhood. But blueberry juice? Well that’s something else… In a good way! Same goes for cardamom. Completely unheard of in pastries we grew up with. And honestly, we’ll never forget the time we tried our first pulla. So that’s that. Purberry is like blueberry juice with a pinch of cardamom. Our late Happy Birthday wish to Finland.

Medium-clear, vermilion beer with fizzy but short-lived carbonation fails to unleash anything else but a moderate soapy ring of bubbles. The short retention maims the lacing to numb. Cardamom dances fiercely in the air. It's absolutely dominant. I try hard and eventually manage to find faint oat biscuit, cranberry and rosehip. Now that I turn to sipping the beer, I can witness blueberry juice. It's watery but identifiable. Cardamom retreats further down to the background. Distant gooseberry and rosehip seal the deal. The body is light. The finish offers thin blueberry, the other gustatory elements feature more or less obscure now. Woop, what the aftertaste say? Burberry baby, it's Burberry baby. Brrrr ay. The mouthfeel is light, juicy, simultaneously autumnal and Christmassy. But only moderately. It's also slightly tart and interesting.

Ei isompaa happoa, ja taittuu siksi mehun puolelle. Kiva karkkimaisuus tuo kuitenkin vaihtelua monesti niin kuiviin marjasoureihin. Oikein hyvä ostos siis!
