Social Coherence
7.0% India Pale Ale
This is a collab with Muted Horn in Berlin creating a West Coast IPA brewed with a beautiful malty base of 100% pilsner malt. This beer gets straight to the point with rounded bitterness from Amarillo, Chinook, Strata and Simcoe in the kettle and whirlpool. A dry hop of more Amarillo, Chinook and Strata brings notes of bitter orange amaro, dank melon and resin. A wander through densely packed pine forest with memories of rain after a dry spell on a warm westerly breeze.
Hops: Amarillo, Chinook, Strata
Malts: Pils

Toffee coloured and clear complexion with minimal visible carbonation and head retention. Pine on the nose straight away and joining it is citrus like candied orange and melon aroma. It's silky and thin in the mouth, oily and it has medium body with a medium to long finish. It is clean yet tangy with a vintage marmalade taste and malty in a light manner, not a dark malt. 100% pilsner malt as it turns out. The fruitness is actually quite strong and battles the pine but the latter takes hold in the finish, resinous, tongue coating finish. But this resin is solely pine and not a dank or fruity hop oil that a NEIPA might bring. A rare west coast for me as NEIPAs are my jam, but it's good to mix things up as I do with stouts and sours. Pine and marmalade is the bottom line. The 7% ABV is well hidden and rather impressive considering this brew clean nature, no doubt the strong pine and orange perform this task. It's a good representation of a west coast IPA.
