Our fourth Homebrew Heroes beer is a stunning 4.8% Blackcurrant, Blackberry & Sea Salt Gose, Forage Fire.
Taking inspiration from a traditional, salt-tinged, wheat-rich style originating in Leipzig and fruited sours of more recent times, our Homebrew Hero, Brian Tomlinson, foraged the blackberries in his local park where brambles grow in abundance.
We’ve scaled that up here, with Himalayan pink salt has been added for a further dimension, as well as a pleasant body and mouthfeel, whilst aiming to be faithful to the traditional Goses of generations ago.

For me too light and tasteless. This should be more sour and have a stronger body. Blackberry and blackcurrant are quite strong berries so that's not the reason.
Light, juicy, watery, and not fresh enough.

My manager at work, his mate made this brew, small world.
Pale ruby red coloured with gentle sparkle and slight haze. Quite wheaty on the nose with forest fruit, kind of reminds me of a raspberry Berliner Weiss I've had before by Unbarred.
Mildly sour after the first sip and therefore very drinkable. It soft and lively in the mouth with light body and medium finish. Blackberry is the most prominent of the two foraged fruits I find, but blackcurrent is very much there too working in tandem.
For me it's not very sour at all, but then it is a modest gose (of which 4-5% is typical) and not a 7% barrel aged sour as fook brew. The foraged forest fruits are well balanced with pink Himalayan salt, in fact I'm tempted to say it's subdued but I feel it's more a harmonious thing. Nevertheless I'm a little underwhelmed compared to gose I've had previously with bolder flavours.
This is a sessionable gose, with leanings towards a fruity Berliner Weiss. The easy going sour nature, nice English berries and wheaty salty finish is pleasant and makes it gulp worthy. The salt does build in the finish actually and accumulates as you go back for more, defying my initial impression of subtle salt.
I'd say most people could enjoy a sour like this, a gentle German as opposed to a Belgian banger!
