Bourbon Barrel Stout
6.9% Stout
Aged for three months in bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. With an exceptional balance and drinkability this beer is the closest thing to an every-day bourbon barrel aged stout the world has ever seen.

Murky, deep dark brown beer with tranquil, short-lived carbonation releases a fawn, velvety head that exceeds one finger. The head dissolves gradually to a thin lacing on top. The retreating head marks the glass with a thin orbit on the glass. The nose receives syrup, molasses and brown sugar, sweetened by a nice punch of dark chocolate and cacao nibs. Bourbon and barrel aging remain absent from the fragrance but step determinedly forward in the gustatory profile. In addition, I find a small injection of syrup, some molasses and a pinch of brown sugar. Both chocolate and cacao are unprocessed raw variants as well as relatively inward-looking. The body is light-medium to medium. The beer finishes with a neat pour of young Bourbon maturing in a whiskey soaked oak barrel. A bit of raw chocolate and light-bitter syrup, seasoned with a silent sigh of coffee add their aromas to the cocktail. The aftertaste showers the tastebuds for a rather short time. The mouthfeel is a bit coarse, faintly woody and recognizeably barrel aged. It's also slightly lip-glueing and still somewhat light.

Excellent, je trouve le goût subtil, équilibré, un petit goût de Jack Daniels et de stout. 😊
