Was expecting something fruity and tart but got something mellow, rich and quite complex instead. Chardonnay barrels add layers of fruitiness and a nice acidity. There’s gooseberries and grapes, naturally. There’s sweet fruity peaches and an almost lactose-like creaminess like you get from a milkshake IPA or milk stout. On reading the bottle it’s been soured with lactobacillus so will need to read up more on that bacteria as that could well be the culprit although never had anything soured that’s been this creamy and almost chewy before. Great beer, nice antidote to the stouts I’m drinking!
