Mort Subite Faro, Belgium
4.1
Muddy, orange-juice-colored beer with decent carbonation flows from tap and builds a one-finger, off-white, creamy head that first rises up to one finger, then settles down to a neat, creamy lacing lingering on the surface for relatively long. The foam likes to cling to the wall of the glass, leaving some horizontal patterns there. The nose senses a rather thin aroma that combines a tad watery, medium-sour apple juice and strong pomelo, seasoned with a couple of spoons of white sugar. The palate is light with semisour orange juice and a tad pomelo, accompanied by a recognizeable dollop of grapefruit pulp, a bit of passionfruit and a lingering note of semisweet sparkling wine. The body is light. The beer serves some relatively sour orange, pomelo and lemon peel for the aftertaste that stays in mouth for quite some time. Sugar is only in the scent, maybe very slightly in the taste but definitely not in the finish. The mouthfeel is light, slightly watery, very juicy and relatively tart. It's also extraordinarily refreshing, truly summery and rather nicely tropical.
