Musta olut. Kellertävän beige vaahto on reilu ja laskeutuu nopeasti. Tuoksu suklainen, lakritsainen. Tynnyrikypsytyksen aistii makeahkosta marjaisuudesta. Ensivaikutelma pehmeä ja täyteläinen. Suklaata, kaakaota, marjaisuutta, lakritsaa.

Time for today's nightcap. Let it be the 2️⃣nd beer of the Imperial Stout quartet by Kråkö Bryggeri. Yesterday I had the standard IS, this now is Port barrel aged. The beer colors opaque black with a faint deep brown reflection. Carbonation is somewhat less pronounced than yesterday. A fawn head is born on top of the liquid but it melts soon to a thin lace ring orbiting the surface. The first difference is to be observed in the scent: much softer and almost not roasty at all. I spot licorice, dark chocolate and raw cacao powder in the first wave. The second wave gives a mere faint roasty hint. Fortunately, there's also a third wave that leaves a nice, slightly sweet coffeeish note hovering in the air. Dark malt, licorice, raw cacao powder and mild-roasted coffee beans constitute the gustatory triumph. Faint burned wood tickles in the shadows. The coffeeish note makes its comeback on the tastebuds, escorted by remote dark plum. The body is medium-full. As if it was slightly thinner than the rust off the standard IS. That's my impression. The finish doesn't alter its route from upfront. At all. The end takes time to fade totally out. The mouthfeel is medium-full, relatively soft, smooth and lip-glueing. Much more subtle than the basic version. Still, not really barrel aged, neither vinous in any respect. Enjoyable.

Todella pehmeä ja miellyttävän makuinen imperial stoutti. Itselleni ensimmäinen kyseisen panimon olut ja positiivinen yllätys.
