Small Beer: Nettle, Finland

Warm! 🥵 My throat cries for refreshment. Therefore, the third small beer, made of the second runnings of the Sahti wort. The flavoring is nettle. Yes!! The beer wears a cloudy, deep rusty-brown gown. Carbonation is, once again, lame. Looks like the amount of priming sugar wasn't optimal in this set. Nevertheless, a weak soapy cream-colored ring emerges on the surface and fades soon to a gossamer decoration only. The nose picks lemon zest, rye dough, distant dark chocolate and a faint herbal aroma. The latter is actually very much like the fragrance of the light-boiled nettles, I've smelled it many times when using nettles for nettle-spinach soup, nettle-feta crêpes and now for the beer. The taste is surprisingly lemony: I can find lemon zest, a bit of pith, a smaller amount of wort and even a suggestion of wood sorrel which definitely is not an ingredient to this beer. I can, still further, pick lingonberry behind the scene. Interestingly, I don't receive any hint of nettle. Should I be disappointed? Not sure. It is in the scent in some form anyway. In the food, it's vegetal, something like spinach but a bit sharper. It goes well in soup and crėpes but in the beer...? Well, it's not there and that's it. The body is thin to light. The finish is citrusy and gives also lingonberry and wood sorrel. The aftertaste falls in the nettle bush and feels like the whole body is on fire for a short while. The mouthfeel is thin to light, slightly tart, juicy, springly and moderately drying. This the best of these three. These are good low-alc accompaniments in sauna or for a meal. I have just a few bottles each anyway.
