Platinum Pale Ale, England
3.1
Flight 3/4. Transparent amber beer with an off-white, frogspawny head that fails to reach one finger. The foamy cap dissolves to a still decent lacing on the top as the retention seems to be extraordinarily long. The nose spots bitter caramel and tea, maybe caramel tea (how clever!). I find also bread and cereal in the air. Simple. Like me. The tastebuds receive bitter caramel malt, bread, strong dry grass, resin and grapefruit peel. Cereal reduces drastically in the end. Could even be a Bitter. Well, traditional anyway. The body is light minus, could also be classified thin. The finish is relatively crisp citrusy, piney, grassy and slightly resinous. The aftertaste wears red, blue and white and is absolutely thrilled by Queen's platinum jubileum. The mouthfeel is thin to light, crisp, a bit slick, zesty and zippy. Nothing spectacular but won't refuse to go down.
