Maple Pecan Praline Wake-n-bake, United States
2.8
This is a nice Georgia beer that I took to the son-in-law in Texas. We'll Duo and give it our ratings. Nice, very dark medium high head. Heavy coating on the glass when you swirl it. Smells of very strong coffee, that intense bitter smell when the coffee's been on the burner too long. Faint maple aroma. Soft and creamy texture from the oatmeal. Flavor quickly has heavily roasted coffee and a strange taste that is exactly like burnt marshmallow. Like when you had a marshmallow over the campfire and it caught fire, you put it out and eat it. That taste. The finish improves a little with a small amount of milk chocolate until a very charred coffee is left lingering in your mouth. Terrapin is one of my favorite breweries but this just did not work for me. Maple was never dominant, praline non-existent, and the burnt marshmallow was not pleasing. The more sips I had the more I was disappointed. 2.8 is probably too high.
