Saturday's nightcap pours murky, very deep dark brown. Carbonation behaves briskly. A sand-hued, velvety head emerges on the top and swells almost two fingers thick. Retention is astonishingly protracted. An uneven lacing floats on the top. Coffee sends bitter vibes to the nose. The late night coffee moment is joined by raw cacao powder, roasted rye malt and a tiny spoonful of ash. There's an additional fruity note in the distance, and it takes me a while to name the exact components: mango and banana. Or that's how I recognize them... Let me enjoy the flavors next. I'm picking raw chocolate in ample volume. Interesting, since the coffeeish punch shrinks drastically on the tongue but doesn't melt down entirely though. Its bitterness becomes much more gentle, most likely because of lactose. Roasted rye malt gets a shy accompaniment: oat flakes. The fruity side reforms into ripe apple and a silent sigh of purple gooseberry. Hmmm... that's something! (I read in the label that is actually apricot. I have to confess that I couldn't spot it anonymously at all. Still I can't even though I know now.) The body is nailed at a medium level. The finish wants to keep raw cacao powder, bitter coffee, roasted rye malt and apple. Are you sure that there's no apple on this? The aftertaste finds a magic road that leads to a wonderland. The mouthfeel is a bit tangy, even distantly tart, roasty, lip-glueing and mouthcoating, It displays a bit of fullness but can't really be described as 'full'. I would still add medium-intense to the list.
