Advent Calendar 2023, Day 19. This Christmas countdown is starting to repeat itself... but this beer is veiled in opaque deep black. Yeah. Pretty repetitive. The carbonation is somewhat reserved and crafts a velvety, pale tawny head that barely climbs one finger high. The foamy lid melts hastily to a thin lace ring on the surface. The scent is intriguing: lovely sweet-leaning potpourri of dark chocolate, cacao nibs, Bourbon, cherry praline, a little injection of vanilla and faint lactose. I can also pick cereal and waffle in the maltbase. I'm trying to identify the Port barrel but I fail... maybe it's the cherry liqueur and Bourbon that dominate the spirit(ual) universe and prohibit me from picking the Port. Anyway, the amount of layers is promising for what follows. Let's see. My tongue loves the copious full flavors of velvety Bourbon, cherry liqueur, dark chocolate, cacao nibs, vanilla, distant caramel and barrel notes. Wheat-based waffle. I can now — for the first time — observe ideas of blackberry and blackcurrant, perhaps even purple grape skin. Are they reflections of Port? I bet they are. Yea, let's lock in that option. The body is beautifully full. Nice. The finish intensifies the cherry liqueur and cherry praline, why not also Bourbon barrel nuance. And purple berries. Attractive for sure! The aftertaste's immortal, it's strong, it's godforsaken; it's in command and nothing will go wrong; it is the reason why all dead can't rest; evil; I feel the origin of darkness growing in my soul. The mouthfeel is full, intensive, thick, barrel aged, moderately adjuncted and fairly deep. It's also rich, layered and reasonably complex. Velvety and balanced. Enjoyable. 🖤🖤🖤 Best so far in my calendar.

Mustaa. Pienet beiget vaahdot. Tuoksu hiukan paahteinen, kirsikkainen ja tynnyrinen. Maku salmiakkia, suklaata, vaniljaa, kirsikkaa ja bourbonia(BB16/9/22) Miellyttävä olut.
