January 27th, 2023. At Saint Arnold Brewing for their Barrel Aged night with Ryan. This is our 12th Brew of the evening. This is a blend of a Belgian style quadruple, a Russian imperial stout, and an English style barley wine. I enjoyed this a year and a half ago at Ryan's house. We both gave it a 5.0. I'm sticking to it.

My son-in-law has been saving this 2019 blended beer. Very limited 25th Anniversary edition made up of a Belgian style quadruple, a Russian imperial stout and an English style barley wine ale. This should be a real treat from one of my favorite Houston breweries. Did not pour as heavy as I expected, very little head that dissipated quickly. Inviting aroma of bourbon barrel alcohol and fresh prunes. Color is a clear but very deep antique bronze. Texture feels very soft but not oily or creamy in thickness. Flavor brings medium strong intensity. The aged bourbon hits first, quickly adding ripe cherries. As the alcohol slowly dissipates, the cherry flavor relinquishes to a milk chocolate just before the finish. As the beer travels into the finish, a lingering bourbon and notes of caramel disappear into the sunset, leaving nothing but a mouthwatering desire for the next sip. As the first sip brought a warming and body chilling alcohol response, I realized that two and a half years of aging probably increased the 11.1%. Reading the bio also gave me great respect for the time and effort and desire for true connoisseur beer quality that went into making this beer. It was a privilege to have been able to enjoy it. Nothing but respect to Saint Arnold's. A most deserving and well-earned 5.0.
