Sahti time! 🍻 This has today been 18 days in growler and should be more or less optimal. This is more traditional than a few other recent Sahtis; however, a small share of cookie malt has been used in it.
The Sahti portrays cloudy, raisin brown. Carbonation is minimal, of course. Therefore, no head forms, just a few small bubbles emerge on the sides of the top.
The scent is classical: sweet malt, dough, biscuit and a reasonable injection of banana. I can also pick a bit of raisin and faint mango. Quite nice. Leads me exactly where I want to go. This time.
The tongue loves the copious sweet malt, a good punch of overripe banana, bun, biscuit, dough and a whisper of clove. Juniper is truly restrained whereas it's entirely camouflaged in the fragrance. The taste profile is very traditional, as well. The biscuity side is recognizable for sure but can't actually tell whether it was such even without the cookie malt.
The body is medium-full. The finish winds up fast. The experience is identical to the actual taste, just a modest alcoholic hint lingers behind the corner. The aftertaste is charmed by a shaman's spells and feels unity with ancestors.
The mouthfeel is somewhat full, slightly lip-glueing, medium-strong and rustic. It's smooth and balanced as well as gives even soft sensations. Traditional. Good to have something ungimmicky for a change after the recent tweaked Sahtis.
