Cluster F%*k
12.2% Imperial Stout
This 12.2% Imperial stout with chocolate, cashews, almonds, and hazelnuts started with a semi-sweet imperial stout base, then we added massive amounts of toasted almonds, cashews, and hazelnuts. The nuts really come through in this beer, with big toasted aromas and more of a praline nut sweetness. To get the chocolate we went with what became our new go-to method for getting a chocolate character into this beer, we used a combination of toasted raw cacao nibs and natural liquified chocolate called Cholaca. The result bridges the gap between the super dark and bitter qualities of chocolate with a sweet, candied chocolate flavor.

BEER: Cluster F%*k BREWERY: Barreled Souls Brewing Co. BEER STYLE: Imperial Stout COUNTRY: USA ABV.: 12.2% COLOUR (EBC): Cola Black (80.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): - AROMA: Caffè latteish, milk chocolates with sweet nutty and creamy being. HEAD: Coffee creamy. Really swift with moves and leaves pretty much no traces behind it. GREY’S VIEW Imperial Stout w/ Chocolate, Cashews, Almonds & Hazelnuts. Ok. I might be a bit allergic to most of the nuts used in this, which why I also might not like their taste. But anyway. Hazelnut is strong as is the cashews. You can almost grate them from the beer. Maltbase is solid. Enough agile and roasty to carry this all. Body is medium with really generous amount of tiny bubbles. The nutty being with this sort of carbonation makes this feel a bit edgy and strict, but it’s only a gimmick, so no worries on that either. Roasted coffee and dry nuts in the end. OTHER NOTES: Hard to enjoy this one, although it’s exactly what it was supposed to be. Stoopid-silly-o’me getting beers with ingredients that I’m allergic to. The base is expectionally good in this one. BOTTLED 12/2/2020 TASTED 25/7/2021
