Like a Matryoshka or ‘nesting’ doll, the secret of Dosvidanya Imperial Stout lies locked deep within her dark, mysterious and elaborate wooden layers. The hidden soul of this oak rye whiskey barrel-aged beer that we said Dosvidanya (farewell) to several months before revealing, is its rich, robust and roasty maltiness that finishes dry with pleasant spiciness from the barrel & added rye.

My 28th birthday and beer #1️⃣7️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ in Pint Please. Also, new beer in the app. UT rating 4.36⭐ so high hopes with this one.
Canned on: someday in 2020
Temperature: +16 C
Pours in the snifter with dark brown color. A small head doesn't last that long. Just your Everyday looking Imperial Stout: 3,25/5
The nose opens up with a big, bold roasty character with notes of rye whisky and oak. Mild burnt sugar and sweeter darker fruits follow. A bigger sniff reveals licorice-like notes as well. After a while, a smooth chocolate aroma joins the game. Very good, but not exceptionally so: 4,25/5
The mouthfeel is medium-full with plenty of bitterness, dry roasty feel, and very evident, but not too strong, alcoholic warm. Definitely a Russian Imperial Stout: 4,25/5
The taste offers roasty, fruity, and malty flavors with some sweetness, oak, and rye whisky tones. The aftertaste is warming, bitter and roastiness rises again: 11,5/15
To be fair, I was expecting even better beer. This isn't that special, to be honest. Good showcase of rye whisky barrel aging though. This even feels a bit raw despite probably spending a year or more in cans plus time in the barrels before Canning: 15/20
