Pour was easy going, alot lighter than I expected for an imperial Chocolate stout. The body has lots of brown tones in it but when fully poured looks black. There was two fingers of chocolate coloured head but it quickly settled. Aroma is distinct dark chocolate, a little brown sugar, a hint of vanilla and trace of beechwood. Mouthfeel is quite flat and thinner than I would like for the abv. This thinness makes it go down easy but the burn of the abv roars back a little unpleasantly. The taste is quite nice, it definitely delivers on its chocolate promise with the chocolate and brown sugar dominating the taste profile, with only a little vanilla coming in at the end. The alcohol burn having quite a remarkable delay is a big drawback as I would prefer these flavours to play off one another, rather they are delivered one at a time which is quite jarring.
