Bbq time. Some chipotle fresh sausages, corn, cream cheese filled white mushrooms and chocolate stuffed banana. No, I'm not eating it all now. Turbid, sludgy brown beer with sufficient carbonation releases a light beige, velvety head that climbs two fingers tall. Soon the foam is gone and a mere haze adorns the top. The scent takes me with big surprise: it's intense and guides me determinedly into the cellars of the beer world. Loads of date and sweet raisin float in mature port. The port-filled barrel is immense on the nose! Dried plum and a small dollop of deep burgundy red wine make a bold approach to my olfactory sense, as well. So big, round and neatly aged this is. 🀎🀎🀎 Port slams fiercely against my face and leaves a boozy bruise on it. In addition to port, I can pick hefty port and some port. Did I say port? Indeed, this beer portrays PORT! 😳 Alcohol-infused soaked oak barrel occupies its central position almost aggressively. I allow my gustatory sense to settle for a short while before I try to pick other elements. [......] Okay. Now. My taste fyke captures oversweet dried plum with sugars crunching between the teeth, sweet raisin and a reserved amount of date, accompanied by a pinch of brown sugar and a suggestion of chocolate. Calories guaranteed! 🀎🀎🀎 The body is full. Supersweet dried fruits tease my tastebuds like this was a game with no winner. The barrel-like nuances intensify appealingly, as well. Port is unmistakable but has lost its arrogance. Alcohol is basically nowhere, it just warms my throat when the liquid falls down in the pharinx. Licorice is the newest component that only steps forward in the finish. The aftertaste wants to mature as beautifully as port usually does. The mouthfeel is neatly full although not superfull. It's lip-glueing, round, mature and barrel aged with capital B. I would certainly add also rich, intense and deep to the list. Even a bit complex. The experience starts boozy but turns then truly soft, smooth and balanced after a few sips and especially in the finish and when the beer has been sitting in the glass for a good while. I'm amazed, this is such a massive slow sipper. The creature is the upper picture is my other beer buddy: European garden spider πŸ•·οΈ One of the biggest spiders in Finland although still not a huge monster. I let it be there, maybe it catches a few mosquitos that would otherwise suck my blood.
