A recipe that has been developed over many years. In fact, it is one of our brewer’s oldest recipes. We now use locally grown fresh picked pie pumpkins grown specifically for our pumpkin ale at Zittel’s Farms in Eden, NY. Most large breweries will use canned pumpkin or no pumpkins at all to get their pumpkin flavor; they also get their beer to market at the end or even beginning of the summer. Staying true to the seasons we wait until the harvest is complete to get our garten-fresh ingredients and beer to market.
Our pumpkins are picked at the peak of ripeness and personally inspected by our brewer before they are brewed with our unique method. The resulting beer is sweet, malty and just the right amount of spice to make it taste like a pumpkin pie. Just like Grandma used to make!!
