“Fassen” is a German brewing term meaning “to fill a barrel.” Historically, in the cold winter months, German brewers aged their lagers in wooden casks so they could release them in the spring. In our version, we aged our Sled Dog Doppelbock in former Rye barrels from Finger Lakes Distilling. This lager, ruby in hue, has an inviting aroma of brown sugar followed by flavors of tart plum, caramel and spicy rye, creating an exceptional, rich beer.
