Taisin vähän herkistyä, olut näyttää niin kauniilta lasissa. Paskat valot, paska tekniikka ja paska kuvaaja mutta livenä hän on niin tyylikäs noin sormen paksuisella vaahtohatulla varustettuna. Tuo väri sopii myös hänelle, kerrassaan kauniin kellertävä. Suorastaan sakean kellertävä. Tuoksu on lievä pettymys, hieman pelkistetyn greippinen ja pisteliäs. Maussa greippimäisyys jatkuu, pisteliäisyys saa myös omassa mielessäni selityksen karvauden muodossa, karvasta makua siloittaa sitrusmaisuus. Paikoitellen dipa on yllättävän kuivahko, mutta se ei maiselukokemusta haittaa. Jännä yrttimäisyys tulee esiin, kun olut on ollut hetken lasissa. Jälkimaussa kuivahkoa humalaisuutta sekä lievää havumaisuutta sekä pisteliäisyyttä. Myöskin sellaista hiilihappomaisuutta sitruksen kera, joka tuo mieleen 7upin lasipullosta juotuna ja Fidon. Jännä dipa, kaiken kaikkiaan aika kova suoritus omaan makuun. Näitä pitäisi olla useampi.

Second brew from the box of The Veil I'm having is this DDH DIPA. Pale amber, opaque but visible carbonation much like the beer I had yesterday. Rich aroma consisting of orange, grapefruit, pineapple and dank pine. It's silky smooth in the mouth but with a persistent carbonation that counters it. It's full bodied with a strong dank piney resin that is fairly bitter. I think I saw somewhere this beer described as a west coast version of "Crucial Taunt" but also just a bigger or enhanced version. I guess I could see the west coast angle via the prominent pine and a bitter clean finish. Orange, grapefruit and pine in a hefty trio of flavour backed by a funky pineapple that's not as prevalent as I'd like myself. That said this a big and beautiful brew, a proper DIPA, very juicy and very hoppy. It's overtly saturated like a big Deya or Cloudwater DIPA. The carbonation is a notable difference for me, maybe it's only slightly higher than others (particularly UK brews) but I can't un-notice it, it makes this beer heavier. Yes, this brew is quite heavy, not a DIPA that surprises you with its drinkability or massive oats to make it slip down like cream. Although the finish is resinous and strong it's somewhat a dry one. This beer is an American DDH DIPA, which I say as its own descriptor. Big, bold, beautiful, though not exactly my fave ever tasting. Obvious quality and it could be held up as a flagship or president of a DDH DIPA.

I tried the Crucial Taunt 3 weeks ago, and it was lovely. Let’s try the DDH version. Aroma: Sweet citrus, sweet stone fruits. Taste: Bright citrus with a somewhat sweet backup by stone fruits like mango. Really hard to tell the big difference, but I wouldn’t say it gained a lot by double dry hopping this beer. Slightly more bitter, close to hopburn.

Tuhtia paketti katkeruutta löytyy mukavasti. Greippi vetoinen, persikkaa, yrttiä. Tyylikäs mut vähän jyrkkä on.

Not bad. Not much on the nose. Tropical melons coming through on the pallet. Flavours are well balanced with a smooth bitterness leading into a very soft finish.

Keep it simple. Loistava olut. Tuoreen tuntuista trooppista hedelmäisyyttä ja miehekäs kuivahumalointi pitää paketin tyylikkäästi kasassa. Tällainen ei kauaa lasissa vanhene!

Olipa upean näköistä. Tuoksussa greippiä, yrttisyyttä, trooppisuutta, guavaa ja kivihedelmiä. Suutuntuma keskihiilihappoinen, runsas, kuiva ja aika pehmeä. Kuivattaa kunnolla suuta. Maussa sitrusta, greippiä, yrttejä, trooppisuutta ja hieman karvautta. Jälkimaku kuiva, greippinen ja pehmeä. Omaan makuun saisi olla raikkaampi ja hieman makeampi. Aika kuivaa kamaa on. Muuten oikein laadukasta tavaraa.
