BEER: Chocolate Layers BREWERY: Urban South - HTX BEER STYLE: Imperial Stout COUNTRY: USA ABV.: 10.0% COLOUR (EBC): Coffee Black (80.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): - AROMA: Chocolaty, sweet, some milk in there too. Nutty. HEAD: At first it seems nice and tight, but it vanishes fast and leaves no trace behind it. GREY’S VIEW No ingredient info found. Mmmmkay, why not. Taste progresses fast. First sip being sweet milk chocolaty at first then hitting to dark and dry chocolate at the next stop. Hazelnuts rises softly from there as does stony, lightly mineral/rocky feel too. Sugars and a feel of lactose are equally present on the background. Mouthfeel is semi light with tiny bubbles and fast, easy being. Malts tries to wink every here and there. Aftertaste has some overly sweet feel to it, but the sugars has to work to reach that. Nicely nutty dry end. OTHER NOTES: Urban South turned 1 in February 2021. Quite a mark they’ve made already. About this one. Solid IS. There is a shadow this not being that pure, don’t know why, but the experience is nice anyway. Not too sweet to me. Lots of hints to Omnipollian works, but luckily, only hints. CANNED 2/2021 TASTED 4/2021

Back at my son-in-law's in Houston Texas trying out some Texas beers. Pours with no head, almost no carbonation detectable. Brown color, opaque. Aroma is a chocolate but not as strong as I would have thought. Texture is extremely thick and syrupy. Strong flavor. Only a light alcohol burn, not the 10% advertised. Flavor reminds me of moist devil's food cake from Betty Crocker. Same through the finish. This flavor was too syrupy, too sweet, and too overpowering for me to really enjoy. Would be better poured over a bowl of ice cream.
