Pecan Pie (2020)
9.3% Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy
This pecan-and-cinnamon-laced fan favorite earned its stripes in our R&D lab. Because you guys made so much noise for it, we’ve decided to bring it back in bombers this time so you can drink your fill. Stickier than a normal scotch ale, roasted pecans and crystal malt are finely balanced between the savory nuttiness and brown sugar sweetness of this brew. Rolled oats add a thickness to the mouthfeel reminiscent of a southerner’s favorite holiday dessert, minus the toothache.

Pecan Pie (2020), United States

Another Duo session with my son-in-law in Galveston. This is a large 22 ounce bottle he brought me from Buffalo Bayou Brewery in Houston. Aroma seems to have a hint of raisin, which is not part of its profile. Small but thick head. Color is a deep hazy red. Thin texture, not much carbonation, very smooth mouthfeel. Again the flavor is more raisin which mildly converts to a faint cinnamon. Only in the finish does the pecan become evident. All this is both mild and clean and quickly disappears with only a bit of nutshell bitterness that remains. This scotch ale is 9.3% and very drinkable. Went through the 22 oz without slowing down. Could easily become an everyday beer except for the cost.
