The Boiling Well 4.7%, Ludlow Brewing, England

The Boiling Well
4.7% Premium Bitter / Strong Bitter / ESB
This premium ale was our second brew and was named after the local Boiling Well Meadow, a few hundred metres from the brewery. It has a auburn chesnut complexion and a grassy aroma of autumn fruit with a full bodied sweet then dry taste.

Nice amber colour and a malty slightly nutty aroma which extends into the main flavours. Crisp and balanced going down, this is a very decent amber ale; to me this is what the ubiquitous, but disappointing Old Speckled Hen should taste like.

Ok I'm on thirds taster tray now! This is amber in colour, tastes like the 4.7 it is. Full bodied with a dry finish.

Boiling well is apt as I was at the time.. crafted in Ludlow using local hops, this is quite a strong red ale with full on berry fruit flavours and a pleasant bitter finish. Maybe one for the autumn rather than record breaking heatwaves, enjoyed nonetheless!
