Das ist der große Bruder vom Big Little Thing. Nochmals nen halben Prozentpunkt Alkohol draufgepackt (9,5 %) wirbt es als Hazy Imperial IPA. Das zeigt sich aber nicht besonders hazy im Glas, eher neblig golden gelb. Im Schluck wenig Schnick-Schnack, dafür erwartungsgemäß kräftig, aber nie alkoholisch. Fruchtnoten nach Tropical und Mandarine, dazu etwas Honigsüße. Mir ist das allerdings zu monoton süßlich, schleicht etwas auf den Pfaden einer typischen Bocksüße. Der Trinwiderstand ist trotz der nicht vorhandenen Sprittigkeit leicht zu hoch. Die Herbe zeigt sich moderat plus. Das ist nicht mein Bier. Ne recht große Dose zu zweit geteilt, das reicht dann aber auch.

Sieht schon majestätisch aus, wie es daherkommt mit der schneeweißen Krone. Massiv herb, alkoholisch, süß-fruchtige Mandarine und Mango an den Nasenflügeln. Der Antrunk ist angenehm moussierend, danach breitet sich süße Malzigkeit vollmundig am Gaumen aus. Komplexer Stoff, trotz heftigen 9 Volumenprozent nicht unangenehm alkoholisch. Bitter-, Fruchtigkeit und Alkoholgehalt sind hervorragend austariert. Klasse Imperial IPA, das nicht so brachial daherkommt wie ein Arrogant Bastard von Stone. Sollte man immer eine Dose parat haben, falls man mal was Anspruchsvolles im Glas möchte…

The 12th beer from my homemade beer Advent Calendar. It pours a slightly hazy, golden colour with a frothy, white head. Aroma and flavour are of stone fruits. Strong, slightly sweet with a smooth mouthfeel.

Just what I need after that onslaught of Pilsner. This one looks familiar but apparently it's new, no matter. Over half a litre and extra juicy too, can't wait. Pour was very well controlled and gives us a body of hazy yellow, with lots of carbonation up the glass, visible only against the light. There were two fingers of light white foam that passed quickly though. Scents are juicy oranges, juicy peaches, and candied orange peel, all playing against the distinct whiff of alcohol and the mild pine resin. The mouth feel is surprisingly light, it's actually medium bodied, very juicy with a little crispy bite and lots of foam. But with the imperial title I expected it to be much heavier. The taste is excellent, tonnes of juicy peach and orange upfront. Some pineapple can be found in the background and other is a slight kick of bitter lime, cutting through the sweetness. The intense alcohol warmth rounds on it all, dragging the juicy fruits down into the dank with the bitter afterbite and the pine resin. The aftertaste is bitter hops, softened by a gradual sweetness that rapidly warms the throat at the end. A great beer and a great end to my Czech odyssey.
