T'is the season for the wax tops, but I suppose there has to be something to set them apart on the shelf. It poured well to the expectant black, with no hues or shades of anything else. There was two fingers of chocolate brown foam but it settled to about half a finger. Aromas start with whiskey, dark chocolate with vanilla shifts in, then a slightly acidic, (maybe burnt? ), spent espresso that passes as the whiskey rolls back in. The mouthfeel is moderately carbonated at the start, it's remarkably lively for this abv. The beer is only medium bodied, but to be honest, it works better this way because of the carbonation and the fact that the whiskey warmth is quite mild. The taste is upfront sweet, brown sugar, a little toffee. The whiskey surfaces together with the dried fruits and nuts before the dark chocolate pushes them aside to ride out with the whiskey. It's a nice step up from traditional porters while still being a step below the full on barrel aged ones. A nice middle of the road.

Zunächst hatte ich wegen des Werbetextes die Vermutung, hier ein nur aus (Christmas-/Corona-)Marketinggründen der Bierothek mit St.Erhard und Brehon geschaffenes Porter vor mir zu haben. Aber nein, es ist ein wirklich gelungenes Collab. Fast blickdichtes rotschwarz, wenig bräunliche Blume. Überraschend fruchtige Noten strömen in die Nase. Der Antrunk könnte samtiger sein, wirkt aber auch nicht dünn. Man erkennt Schokolade, Trockenfrüchte, Süßholz, etwas Portwein, nicht näher zu definierende Gewürze und auch der Alkohol kommt durch. Zum Ende wird es bitterer und recht trocken. Ich stimme nach dem Genuss der Einordnung als Christmas Porter zu.
