Hoppe IPA is named after Lieutenant Fredrik Vilhelm Hoppe, who led the construction work at the fortress of Suomenlinna. During trip abroad he fell in love with strongly hopped british beer styles and imported them for himself and his friends to speed up the construction work of Suomenlinna.

Väri syksyn ruskan tai meripihkan punertava. Tuoksu makean maltainen ja hedelmäinen. Maku pehmeä, mutta katkerot nousevat silti kivasti makunystyröihin. Mukana tuntuvasti mallasta ja sitrusta. Makea jälkimaku. Nimensä olut sai linnoitussuunnittelija, luutnantti Fredrik Vilhelm Hoppen mukaan.
