Now this is a proper sour, not like the sweet and sour shit you normally get in the UK, a proper lips-puckering down and dirty sour. Just like the ones I tried in the US a few years ago, the ones that people rave about and pay $40 a bottle for but they all taste like vinegar or oxidised red wine.
Anyway, it’s not a bad beer, it’s certainly well crafted and a fantastic example of the style. It’s dry and acidic for sure. Hints of chocolate push through the vinegar. Aromas and flavours of damson and sloe are also evident. As the bottle finishes it becomes more palatable I’m guessing as it’s more yeasty from the sediment. Less battery terminal, more vagina. Weird that.
