Day #20 of Advent Calendar. The dates at the bottom of the can are quite obscure but I interpret that this is 2020 vintage.
Opaque, shiny black beer fills the glass smoothly. Unsociable carbonation lays a hair-thin hickory lace ring that shrinks away rapidly.
The scent gives first a hefty nutty note: the label mentions walnut but had I done a blind test, my guess would have been light-roasted salted almond. I can additionally pick moderate maple syrup and a whisper of dark chocolate. Apart from the nut, the olfactory components are quite weak.
Raw chocolate, dark malt, molasses, a bit of licorice and a coffeeish twist constitute the flavor cocktail. Bourbon is harsh on the tongue, not so much because of alcohol although its warming sensation is obvious, but rather because the Bourbon feels immature. The walnutty suggestion disappears almost completely, and also the maple syrup is regrettably modest. It's nice to have different types of scent and taste but I'd love to enjoy on my tastebuds what the beer is supposed to yield.
The body is robust, as a matter of fact, surprisingly full for 9 %. The finish is rather intense with bowls of Bourbon, soaked barrel, bitter syrup, a crack of burned wood and oppressed maple syrup. Basically similar to the actual taste but a roasted tang steps now into the picture. The aftertaste falls into darkness and understands the meaning of life.
The mouthfeel is full, thick, alcoholic, barrel aged and heavily warming. It's also oily, intense, faintly roasty, remotely lip-glueing and simultaneously s bit harsh. Complexity is the weakest link of this beer. I find this fairly straightforward although palatable for sure.

Parin sormen levyinen, tumma keltaruskea vaahto.
Tuoksussa siirappimaista makeutta, hämmästyttävän voimakas ja selkeä saksanpähkinä.
Maussa siirappia, kahvia, bourbonia, pähkinäisyyttä, tammea, vaniljaisuutta.
