After successful ice-distillation of our eisbock (see Norseman), we had a quantity of beer that we wanted to turn into a special offering for beer events and festivals. Swedish craft-distillery Mackmyra is well known for its single malt whiskies. A single malt from Sweden - yes, quite a good one at that, worth many accolades and awards, including European Spirits Producer in the 2012 International Wine and Spirits Competition. Not bad for a group of eight friends who started Mackmyra only a short ten years ago. We took Mackmyra's mini-casks (30 l barrel made from Swedish oak) and decided they would be perfect for aging our eisbock. This beer is available at special events (Volo's Cask Days, Festival Of Small Breweries, etc), mostly in the GTA.
