2019 Pumpkinator Aged in Bourbon Barrels
12.9% Pumpkin Ale
Pumpkinator Aged in Bourbon Barrels
This Woodford Reserve bourbon barrel aged version of Pumpkinator is even bigger than the original. The nose is pumpkin spice up front with oak, bourbon, vanilla and dark fruit in the background. The taste starts with sweet chocolate and pumpkin spice up front and finishes with a bit of alcohol heat and spices. This beer has a medium-full body with a soft mouthfeel.
The warmer this beer gets the better it tastes. We recommend enjoying between 55°F and 65°F.

Past posting this from my trip on October 22nd with my son-in-law. Second stop of the day was at the restaurant Brews Brothers in downtown Galveston. Enjoyed this 2019 brew from their store room along with an order of fried mushrooms and fried avocados. Delicious.
Our waiter gently poured this bourbon barrel aged stout into a nice sniffer glass. Produced no head this way. He agreed to leave the bottle for my photos. Opaque brown in color. Intense pumpkin spice aroma which was probably accelerated with the sniffer glass. Going to make a point of having all my stouts in sniffer glasses when available. Texture is very thick, almost syrupy. Strong pumpkin flavor with a powerful blast of Bourbon. Spice is blended in with the pumpkin but is most prominent during the finish. Alcohol is present from first to last.
Probably too strong for an afternoon beer but I couldn't pass up the chance to have last year's vintage. Need to take it easy with this brew, it's powerful. Glad I have a designated driver.
