Beer Battle: Blend I vs. Blend II Canned 17.9.2020. Mökillä sosiaalisessa tilanteessa meni nämä joten ei tässä kerkeä paljoa kirjoitella, mutta tosi laadukas. Kunnolla tynnyriä, ryhtiä, paksuutta, paahdetta, makeutta ja suklaata. Tässä vielä paremmat tynnyröinnit.

(Tölkitys on tapahtunut 17.9.20) Kuulen jo nenällälläni tuon ihanan Bourbonin kutsun/tuoksun 😍.Kuivempaa tynnyrin reunusta(tammea käpristyneen rouheaa),mihin myös kuivempia karamellisessa siirapissa uitettuja tummia hedelmiä jokunen mukaan pääsee. Suutuntuma on yllättävän täyteinen.Juuri sopivalla nopeudella liikkuvan ihanainen sekä myös tarpeeksi runsaan pehmeä,muttei missään tapauksessa yhtään löysä. Bourbonia jopa vähän erillaisilla käännöksillä puskee esiin,todella hienosti kukkaan puhkeavan pienen chilin/habaneeron nipistyksellä👌.Vaniljaa myös löytyy kietoutuneena noihin saakulin tynnyreihin.Suklaisuuskin pitää sisällään pienen 🌶 puraisun sellaisella Mexicolaisen tädin herättelevällä kakkupohjaisella avokkaalla 👋. On sielä sitä siirappista suossa tarpomistakin jonkun sortin tummempien hedelmienkin kanssa,mutta itselle se on kyllä tuo Bourbon mikä täydellisesti balanssissa olevan chilisyyden ja mausteisuuden kanssa tekee tästä oluesta Oluen. Tylsästä/mitään sanomattomasta tölkistä tulee tälläinen lähes jumalia pilkkaava taistelu liemi 🍻.Kiitos ja kummarrus 💥🍻👊

Blend I was so inspiring that I want to jump right away to Blend II. This little cutie boasts about none less than five barrels. 😳 The beer bears the same muddy, deep dark brown tint as Blend I. No surprise. Carbonation is equally limited. The head, in turn, is milk chocolate brown and the texture is moussy. The head melts gradually to dispersing mist and a nice ring on the top. The head also marks the glass with dense downpouring orbit around the glass. The first big surprise comes on the nose: it's less powerful than that of Blend I. Dark chocolate, Bourbon, faint molasses and a hint of caramel linger vibrantly in the air. Interestingly, at the same time as Bourbon intensifies, so do vanilla and, of course, oak barrel. Otherwise, the scent is somewhat restrained. The gustatory experience lifts my senses to the next level. Molten dark chocolate pours on a huge bowl of cacao nibs. Bourbon is massive, a tad boozy and woody that obviously originates from the cask experience. Molasses and syrup can't be missed either. Vanilla is present is smaller proportion than in Blend I. The last component for me is distant plum jam. The body is, again, undeniably full. The finish offers dominant Bourbon that is both fruity and, to some extent, young. Immediately as the boozy wave settles, attractive vanilla-seasoned dark chocolate, raw cacao powder and a drop of syrup step out of the shadows and are joined by licorice and faint dark plum peel. The aftertaste still doesn't have any friends in the music business but fakes successfully in front of the tastebuds for a good while. The mouthfeel is full, intense, a tad boozy, seriously barrel aged and warming. This, too, is deep and reasonably rich but falls short of the complexity and layeredness of Blend I. It's surely oily thick and desserty as well as sticky and lip-glueing. It seems that the four barrels of Blend I mingled beautifully and supported each other, instead of being messy or conflictual as I first thought. However, Blend II with its five barrels is more straighforward with Bourbon and misses the beauty of the other, non-Bourbon casks. In a nutshell, Blend II is gorgeous, as well, but Blend I made me fall deeper in nirvana.

Au nez on sent bien les 14° mais une fois en bouche on tient une stout assez classique dans ses arômes chocolaté. Un peu liquoreuse sur la fin. Une belle bière qui réchauffe.
