Pronounced 'sticky alt' means 'secret old' in German. This beer originates in the brewpubs of Dusseldorf (a city in west Germany) It is a stronger hoppier version of 'Alt Bier' It's called old because it's brewed in the old way (i.e. it's an ale not the more modern lagger). It's called secret because in the pubs the tap handle is hidden, and they only pour it for regulars. It is dry and grainy because it's brewed with pilsen malt. It is quite hoppy, with a herbal, spicy, 'noble' hop aroma. Noble hops are a few certain types of classic hops that can only be grown in Germany and the Czech Republic
