An uneventful pour leaving the expectant black body with a half finger of white head. Scent is striking, there are none of the expected roasted coffee tones, rather there is a subdued sweetness from beginning to end, which fluctuates from marshmallow to chocolate . The Mouthfeel is silky smooth, remarkably so for an 8%. Taste is very nice, it brings more of the biscuit malt, and smooth chocolate to the foreground to dance with the prominent marshmallow, all of which is nicely rounded by the alcohol taste. There was every opportunity to get carried away making this beer, but they exercised restraint to deliver a more subtle, nuanced taste. My only complaint is that the body is a little thin for an 8%.
