Translucent, raisin brown beer with virtually no carbonation builds a thin ring of beige foam bubbles circling the top. Otherwise the top is entirely still and the glass intact. The scent offers the usual suspects like banana, sweet malt and sweet dough of baked roll. The fragrance is now classical and fails to portray dimensions. At least, the olfactory experience is clean and straight to the point. The tongue receives rather sweet malt that wants to leave a faint sticky feeling on the lips. Banana esters are evident, perhaps a bit of dried apricot and a suggestion of raisin, too. The pastry side spreads the very familiar homemade bun. I'm picking some detectable viscosity in the mouth but the intensity of the flavors is hoped to be higher. I'm also trying hard to spot the note of alcohol but I just fail. I can feel moderate warmth in my throat but not taste the alcohol itself. I'm definitely not saying that it's not there as Sahti is a living product that can vary from bottle to bottle and canister to canisters. It also seems that moderate oxygen (as a result of opening the cap repeatedly) actually deepens the nuances and hides the alcoholic twist. Generally speaking, the package is clean and quite predictable in my opinion, just the way it's meant to be. The body is medium. It's pretty much up to my expectations. The Sahti finishes with fermented banana, sweet malt and a hefty doughy nuance. The aftertaste raises the "Haarikka" to the lips and gulps a respectable dollop of the divine liquid to the throat while the tastebuds are waiting impatiently for their turn. The mouthfeel is medium-full, viscous, a bit lip-glueing and slightly sticky. It's also notably rustic, satiating and easily approachable. Predictable and balanced.

Pehmeä olemuksinen ja hitaasti alaa valtaava. Uteliaisuutta herättävä. VAAHTO: Vähäisesti vain, suurikuplainen. GREY’S VIEW Ohra- ja ruismaltailla (sahtimallas) rakennettu & kokonaisilla katajanoksilla ja marjoilla, sekä kevyellä humaloinnilla maustettu, perinteinen sahti. Ensipuraisu onkin melkoinen, yllättävän jopa. Reilun tahmaavan toffeinen, napsaavan kuiva katajanoksainen, hienoisella havumaisella kuivattavuudella. Sahdin asettuessa suuhun hetkeksi huomaan myös alkoholin pilkistävän sieltä joukosta. Runko on tahmaavan nopea, makuihin sopivan reilulla keskitason rungolla, vaikka tietynlainen mineraalisuus kulkee alati sivustassa. Jälkituntu laittaa posket kivasti napsumaan ja sitten maussa löytyvät runsaammin myös ohra ja ruis. Kevyellä viikunaisuuden päätöksellä loppuun. MUUTA MAINITTAVAA: Pakko myöntää. Olen hieman pöljänä näihin sahteihin, kun ne niin harvinaisia ja yleensä aina omaan makuun sopivia ovat olleet. Tässäkin yksilössä maut ovat kyllä todella kohdillaan (riittävän rikas, vaikka toki aavistuksen vahvemmat maut olisivat omaan suuhun voineet olla) ja hyvin kohtaavat tämän nauttijan janontunteen. Harmillisesti tuo alkoholisuus tulee kuitenkin paikoitellen läpi, mikä itsellä vaikuttaa kokonaisuuteen melko paljon. Annanpa tämän lämmetä ja jatkan tutkimuksia itsekseni.
