The third beer of our homebrewed flavored stouts. This is a coffee chocolate stout.
The beer looks bright, jet black. The reasonably rich carbonation builds a cappuccino-colored, sponge-like head that exceeds one finger. The foamy cap dissolves gradually to a thin lacing and leaves very few minuscule dots on the glass.
The scent is moderate. I'm getting a wisp of soft mocha and dark malt. I can also recognize faint lactose although there's no lactose in the beer.
The taste is nice with truly soft mocha and distant raw chocolate. Vanilla wants to shy away but can still be spotted if carefully concentrated on. The taste profile is extraordinarily balanced and relatively easy, no individual component is particularly strong. The next version, if any, should still be heftier.
This beer contains also cacao nibs but there's no greasy layer on the surface at all, unlike in the coconut chocolate stout. Hmmm... 🤔 The amount of cacao nibs was smaller in this beer though.
The body is light. The beer finishes with surprisingly soft coffee and raw chocolate, a whisper of raw cacao powder and a truly transient idea of licorice. The aftertaste wants to have a quick take-away coffee for the tastebuds.
The mouthfeel is light, very balanced, soft and smooth. Easy and quaffable. I can also pick a remote dry hint in my mouth although the mouthfeel is by no means dry; yet it's not lip-glueing either.
