My first Fremont Brewing beer 🤗 this is an imperial oatmeal stout aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels and spiced with cinnamon bark and licorice. The appearance is lovely. Thick and oily black liquid, almost like a dark soy sauce. Almost no head at all. First sniff reveals a rich umami/dark soy sauce aroma which I love in imperial stouts 😍 there's also loads of rye and sweet, dark syrup. Some smoky (bbq) aroma, licorice, a touch of chocolate and roasted barley complements the lovely aroma. This beer has full body and mouthfeel with slightly oily texture. Low carbonation. Even though the mouthfeel is full and a bit oily, its not overly thick. Flavorwise the beer contains sweet dark syrup, dark cocoa, some toffee and cinnamon. The barrel presence isn't strong, but there's still some lovely sweetish bourbon flavor with slight alcohol bite init. A bit of salty licorice in the after taste. This is quite sweet, but it doesnt't go over the boards. Super good! 🤤🍻 *Bottle says 12.7% ABV, but untappd says 13.2%. I'll stick what the bottle says.
