PE 31.4.21.

Transparent, amber beer with a faint brownish hue and almost arrogant carbonation unlocks a massive, soapy head that rockets up to an entire palm's height and even more. The foamy tower collapses soon to a lower level. The withdrawing froth marks the glass with multiple small lace dots. The scent is, first and foremost, stuffy: strong malt and a simple bunch of hoppy elements which include grapefruit peel and faint grass. A relatively intense note of wet cardboard can't be mistaken and ruins the olfactory experience. The taste isn't fortunately as rebarbative as the fragrance suggests. I'm getting a tad bitter grapefruit peel, piney characteristics that merge with grassy hops, fairly copious yeast and a suggestion of fermented peach. I can also snatch a distant nuance of caramel somewhere in the background. Overall, there lingers a strange soapy aroma on the tongue that doesn't particularly improve my sensation. The taste profile is quite interesting in that I have learned to know Galaxy as one of the appealing citrusy, even tropical-hinting hops but this beer manages to flat it down completely. It's like having all the components of a Porsche but at the end what you get out of them is a Lada. Don't take me wrong, Ladas are awesome but there's still a fine difference between a Lada and a Porsche. The body is light. The beer finishes with grapefruit peel, lemon pith, a caramelly twist and slightly piney hops. The aftertaste tortures the tastebuds for a short to medium time. The mouthfeel is light, a bit crisp, faintly piney and remotely soapy. It's also musty, closed and simple. It's absolutely characterless and uninspiring. Simply unnecessary calories. One more funny detail: the best before date is 31 April 2021. Such a date will never come. 😆
