Saturday is kicked off with a raspberry flavored Sour DIPA. Sounds interesting. Sounds actually more than interesting. đđť
The beer colors muddy, deep dark burgundy. The decent carbonation releases a white-pink-combined, velvety head that surpasses one finger's height. The foamy pillow goes soon dormant and settles down to a pretty lace ring.
I sniff the beer. Overwhelming natural raspberry mash dominates the experience. The raspberry is really attractive, brings a lot of summery memories in my mind. In addition, I can pick lactose, a bit of blackberry and a surprisingly soft wheaty touch.
The gustatory profile puts forward relatively sour, abundant raspberry mash. The taste is simply amazing, rich in berries and gardeny. Lactose floods a nice light-sweet creamy touch on the tongue, probably gearing the package a tad in a smoothie-like direction, if not up to the level of milkshake. The more sour blackberry has mellowed down somewhat and resembles more like boysenberry. Wheat malt is noticeably subtle and smooth and even refreshing. Not sure if I get oatmeal, I'm imagining it but then I'm losing it. Anyway, very appealing to my taste receptors.
The body is medium-full. The beer ends with loads of raspberry and, again, a nice amount of blackberry. The cocktail is rather sour. Lactose that is so bold upfront has taken camouflage in the finish. The aftertaste feeds a big spoon of vitamin C to the tastebuds and it takes time.
The mouthfeel is attractively natural, rich in berries and gardeny. Summery as well. It's nicely medium-tart and a tad puckering, rather dry as well as mouth-drying. I would also add that it's quite full.
Adorable! â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸ This is my eighth Sour IPA and occupies easily position #1. The hoppiness, however, is really modest, which makes me curious about the fine line between Sour IPA and Sour Ale. My limited experience would actually categorize this in the Sour Ale lot. Or maybe it's the soft tropical fruitiness of Galaxy that mesmerizes my consideration away from the IPA class.

Happamuuden taso on mainio.
Erinomaista nautittavaa.
