Today I'll start the second batch of my summer vacation 🌧️🌩️🌪️🌞🍺 This time four weeks. Now that we have reached our hideout in the countryside, greeted the neighbors (long style) and unpacked everything, I can crack open the official vacation beer . Pours murky, very deep dark brown. Restrained carbonation almost fails to create any head, merely a faint beige lace ring decorates the top for a short while. The scent is nutty as if a medley of hazelnut and pecan. However, the nuts are actually walnut and pistachio. I can also pick a bit of raw cacao powder as well as a pinch of licorice. The taste gears in a more bitter and thinner direction. Raw cacao powder, licorice and light-roasted malt feature on the tongue. The nutty elements vanish totally from the taste receptors. Instead, I get a drop of tar. Disappoints me to some extent. The body is light. At 9 % it's clearly substandard. The finish is simply roasted, a bit woody and somewhat licoricey. The aftertaste feels its nuts shrinking and gets horrified for a while. The mouthfeel is light, light-roasty, slightly charred and a tad intense. It's also smooth, slightly lip-gluing and distantly woody. Not bad but not a winner either.
