This isn’t right. How can I be the first person to rate this beer?! It’s bloody awesome and should have been drank at Christmas. English style old ale thrown in oak bourbon cask for a year with Belgian yeast. Intrigued is an understatement, and after 2+ years in bottle this beer is as fresh as the day it was bottled. I’ve no idea what this tasted like back in 2018 but the whiskey nuances are still evident. Dark brown and lively with a dissipating tan head. Aromas like a barrel-aged barleywine. Caramel, prunes and vanilla. Flavours... where to start? Oh my! Sweet malt flavours roll out the glass then get cut through at every possible angle by... plums, raisins, dates, marmalade, muscavado sugar and Madeira wine followed up by a boozy oak, vanilla and whisky finish, with... a hint of banana 🍌 It’s smooth, warm and like a hybrid of a Belgian Christmas ale, a barleywine and even a Wee Heavy... Scrumptious 😋
