10 months on from when I first drank this I’m surprised by how much it’s mellowed. It’s the same batch of beer that has been a surprise gift so has probably been sat in a cool room for the whole time. Perfect! The roast elements have dropped off significantly and left a really full bodied porter with great mouthfeel. Reminds me of one of my favourite robust porter’s by Port City Brewing Co. lots of sweet mealiness, like concentrated Horlicks in a beer. Yummy!

Kovan somehypen kourissa olevan panimon porteria testiin ja positiivisin mielin olenhan vanhanaikaisten brittiporterien ystävä. Tuoksussa paahdetta, kaakaota, suklaata ja kahvia. Oikein hyvä tuoksu. Suutuntuma keskihiilihappoinen, runsas ja pehmeä. Tosi hyvä. Maussa kahvia, paahdetta, suklaata, hedelmäisyyttä, kaakaota ja hieman hunajaa. On kyllä toimiva. Ihan perinteisten helppojen ja yksinkertaisten porterien kärkeä. Jos näistä tykkäät iso suositus.

Aromas of fresh coffee. Bitterness from the heavily roasted speciality malts cut through the sweetness, mild chocolate and coffee flavours quite well. Feels a bit thin at first but as it warms it thickens and feels like it’s on its way to an imperial stout. Not boozy but certainly heavy, with a thick mouthfeel. Balanced but leaning towards the bitter side. Very nice.
