Found this one in my go to supermarket when I'm home and my mother suggested to try it out, despite the fact that personally I don't really like chicory. This amber lager has a turbid dark gold color, with big white foam head and, due to the fact that it is unfiltered and bottle refermented, it has quite a deposit on the bottom. To the nose it appears as the typical lager with slight red chicory hints on the background. The mouthfeel is interesting, slightly more alcoholic than expected despite the 5.2% volume, and bitter, but a different bitterness than usual, a perfect blend of the hops and the red chicory. The brewery claims, in fact, to have reduced the quantity of hops, otherwise it would've been too bitter in combination with the chicory. The aftertaste carries on the bitterness and allows to finally distinctly distinguish the taste of the red chicory which becomes predominant in a pleasant way. Overall, as I don't really like chicory, I didn't expect anything special, but I must confess that I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought, it's something different than usual that is balanced and not too overwhelming!
